This model is part of our standard ready to runs which have been cleverly tooled and designed with a cast tender and cab to create a cost effective range of locomotives whilst still maintaining the outstanding quality and finish that DJH Model Loco is known for. By using larger components and removing intricate brass etchings from the build, we are able to produce these ready to runs in a shorter time frame – reducing the cost.
LNER J72
The J72 (E1) Class locomotives were first built by the ‘North Eastern Railway’ in 1898, by Wilson Worsdell at Darlington works, and were a development of the J71 Class built in 1886, by T.W. Worsdell. Seventy five locomotives were built under the ‘North Eastern Railway’; ten by the L.N.E.R. in 1925, after the grouping, and a further twenty eight after nationalisation in 1948. Between 1937 and 1954, eight of the first class of engines had vacuum ejectors fitted and steam heating equipment. The J72’s were very successful in service, and well liked by the engine crews. Most of the class lasted until the end of steam operations by ‘British Railways’.
The following locomotive numbers are available for various models:
