BR Class 47 Diesel (Early Type Fixed Radiators)
This was the largest class of main-line diesel locomotives ever constructed in Britain, with a total of 512 being built between 1962 and 1967. They worked everywhere on every kind of train, from Inter-City passenger services to merry-go-round coal trains.
This kit covers D1500-D1806 as running until around 1976, when they were rebuilt with adjustable Serck radiator shutters in line with the later members of the class.
Alternative parts are included to build locos fitted with either the Stones or Spanner type of steam-heating boiler. The kit features a three-piece alloy body, cast bogie sideframes and brake gear, preformed etched roof panels, fans and engine grille covers, etched window beadings, snowploughs, sprung brass buffers, lost-wax buffer-beam pipework and many other fine detailing parts, including full cab interiors. A working lighting kit is available as a separate item.
We recommend purchasing our GB30R-3M motor/gearbox and WS K321 wheelset with K321 kits.
