The 9F was the last and unquestionably one of the greatest steam locomotive designs ever produced in this country. Though many of these big 2-10-0s saw only a few years’ service their tremendous power, reliability and versatility made them a favourite with the operating departments of all BR regions. Originally a Western Region specification, many engines with the cutaway BR1G tender– 92000-92007/92203-92220/92221- 92250 – later moved to the London Midland and North Eastern regions. The locomotive and tender bodies are largely in whitemetal, with fold-up etched cab and smoke deflectors. The kit also includes alternative single and doduble chimneys and other detail variations – including a set of nameplates for Evening Star – to enable individual members of the class to be accurately modelled.
We recommend purchasing our AM9 motor/gearbox and WS K79 wheelset with this kit.
