All DJH Model Loco kits are designed with an extreme attention to detail and built to the scale of the original model. Our Research and Development team examine archived drawings to gain access to the most intricate details of the original model and replicate this in the model designs – even down to the number of rivets used!
Handcrafted by our incredibly skilled team of modelers, toolmakers and craftsmen, all products are made at our modern factory based in Consett, County Durham. Using high quality materials such as pewter and brass, DJH Model Loco kits are extremely durable and built to last.
Suitable for competent modelers, our K48 kit is supplied with fitting instructions which details the tools required and step-by-step instructions to guide you through the build.
This powerful locomotive with its massive cylinders was designed by Sir Henry Fowler to assist trains up the formidable Lickey incline, a function it performed almost without interruption from 1919 to 1956 when it was finally retired from service. Numbered MR No 2290, LMS No 22290 and BR No. 58100, this unique locomotive was affectionately known as the ‘Big Bertha’.
The kit features cast one-piece boiler/firebox/smokebox with etched cab, tender body, coupling rods, valve gear and chassis.
We recommend purchasing our AM9 motor/gearbox and WS K48 wheelset with this kit.
