All DJH Model Loco kits are designed with an extreme attention to detail and built to the scale of the original model. Our Research and Development team examine archived drawings to gain access to the most intricate details of the original model and replicate this in the model designs – even down to the number of rivets used!
Handcrafted by our incredibly skilled team of modelers, toolmakers and craftsmen, all products are made at our modern factory based in Consett, County Durham. Using high quality materials such as pewter and brass, DJH Model Loco kits are extremely durable and built to last.
Suitable for competent modelers, our K38 kit is supplied with fitting instructions which details the tools required and step-by-step instructions to guide you through the build.
For three decades these engines were the unsung workhorses of British Railways, working freight trains all over the country. They were introduced in 1943 in response to a need for a simple, rugged heavy hauler that could be used to help the war effort. After the war, they were sold off cheaply and a total of 733 ultimately came into BR hands.
This kit is equally straightforward and includes a one-piece whitemetal boiler, cast footplate, etched cab and tender body. The chassis is as robust as the prototype s and features etched nickel-silver valve gear.
We recommend purchasing our AM10 motor/gearbox and WS K38 wheelset with this kit.
