All DJH Model Loco kits are designed with an extreme attention to detail and built to the scale of the original model. Our Research and Development team examine archived drawings to gain access to the most intricate details of the original model and replicate this in the model designs – even down to the number of rivets used!
Handcrafted by our incredibly skilled team of modelers, toolmakers and craftsmen, all products are made at our modern factory based in Consett, County Durham. Using high quality materials such as pewter and brass, DJH Model Loco kits are extremely durable and built to last.
Suitable for experienced modelers, our PMP8 kit is supplied with fitting instructions which details the tools required and step-by-step instructions to guide you through the build.
The B1 was a two-cylinder mixed-traffic locomotive designed by Edward Thompson and first introduced in 1942. A grand total of 410 members of this class was built before the construction programme came to an end in1952. This superb kit allows the builder to incorporate many of the detail differences between batches of B1s built by Darlington and Gorton Works, North British and Vulcan Foundry.
Newly retooled by DJH, it now features a one-piece cast footplate and boiler/smokebox/firebox assembly. All the outstanding features of Walter Hodgson’s original design are retained, such as the optional fully functioning screw reverse gear, opening smoke box door, working valve guides and lubricators . Thanks to its unprecedented attention to detail, this kit builds up into a true museum-quality model that requires only wheels, motor/gearbox, paint and transfers to complete.
We recommend purchasing our GB30R-3M motor/gearbox and WS PMP8 wheelset with this kit.
